2012 Subaru BRZ
24th April 2012
Subaru unveiled the production version of its highly anticipated BRZ sports coupe. Fully exploiting the best design features of the current-generation Boxer engine, the newly developed 2.0-litre powerplant is exclusive to the BRZ. The joint development programme with Toyota Motor Corporation allowed Toyota’s ‘D-4S’ direct injection and port injection technology to be incorporated into the BRZ’s power unit, improving efficiency. The powerplant achieves a maximum output of 200PS and 151lb/ft torque.
The 2012 Subaru XV Concept has been kitted out with a great many features suited to the urban lifestyle, typical examples of which being the advanced information/entertainment system and handy storage areas for all kinds of objects within arm’s reach. In designing this vehicle, a high level of convenience for a diverse array of owners was one of our prime concerns.
The new 2012 Subaru XV Concept is fitted with a new body colour “Tangerine Orange Pearl”, ten colour selections are provided: Tangerine Orange Pearl,Ice Silver Metallic, Satin White Pearl, Dark Gray Metallic, Obsidian Black Pearl, Camellia Red Pearl, Sky Blue Metallic, Deep Cherry Pearl, Marine Blue Pearl, Sage Green Metallic.
With a number of powertrain solutions, including Ford’s newest, most advanced engine the 1.0-litre EcoBoost™, Ford EcoSport is designed to be a benchmark in fuel efficiency. It also offers the Ford SYNC driver connect system with voice control and many other innovative features in a spacious and comfortable interior with new levels of craftsmanship as well as outstanding quietness and refinement.
The all-new EcoSport provides spaciousness for five, a high driving position with outstanding visibility, a refined cabin environment engineered for quiet operation, carefully selected and matched materials, and a modern design ethos. The interior offers a very modern design, together with a series of technological features that a new generation of consumers desire in a connected car, and at the same time, look for in a differentiated, comfortable and inviting driving experience.
Energy efficiency is one of the highlights of the all-new Ford EcoSport. The goal set by Ford in the EcoSport’s development was to become the segment leader in fuel-efficiency with the all-new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder EcoBoost™ engine as well as the new 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol engine.
Numerous design elements combine to give the Subaru Impreza a sportier exterior stance while also offering the driver and passengers a more commanding view of the road. The windscreen is more raked than in the previous model, with the bottom of the A-pillar moved 7.9 inches forward. This allows for a front door opening that is nearly five inches longer for easier entry/exit, abetted by lower doorsills. Rear doors are also larger on both 4 and 5-door body styles.
Subaru will offer two different Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive systems in the new Impreza. For models equipped with the 5-speed manual, the Continuous AWD system uses a viscous-coupling to distribute power 50/50 front to rear, while any slippage will send more power to the opposite set. Those models equipped with the Lineartronic CVT will have the Active Torque Split AWD version that uses a continuously-variable transfer clutch to actively control power distribution in response to driving conditions.
On the safety front, the Impreza will be equipped standard with Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control system which combines stability and traction control functions, ABS, EBD and Brake assist.
The adrenaline-rusher WRX STi is said to be left untouched for now. Expect the UAE, Saudi and Omani launch of the regular variant by early 2012. And as always, this product too from Subaru shall be more exclusive than a Ferrari and Lamborghini in this part of GCC, all hail the dealers.
UK versions of the Subaru Impreza will be powered by an all new 4-cylinder 1.6 litre Boxer petrol engine and will be available with either a new five-speed manual transmission or Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT. With either transmission choice, the 2012 Impreza delivers significantly improved fuel economy over the car it replaces.
Subaru will offer two different Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive systems in the new Subaru Impreza. In models equipped with the five-speed manual, the Continuous AWD system uses a viscous-coupling to distribute power 50/50 front to rear, while any slippage will send more power to the opposite set.
Complementing the safety benefits of the AWD system, the new Subaru Impreza will also come as standard with Subaru’s Vehicle Dynamics Control (SVDC) – a system which combines stability and traction control functions – while all models are equipped with ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and the Brake Assist safety system.
Apart from the interior improvements the new Impreza has also been hit with the practicality stick, now providing a completely flat load floor when the standard 60/40 split rear seatbacks are folded (hatch). The sedan’s boot functionality is enhanced with support arms – reshaped and enclosed within the boot interior trim. Both variants now come with a telescopic steering wheel.
The stereo system is capable of reading not only USB but also support Bluetooth audio streaming (Australian specifications have not been confirmed so these features may or may not come on the very base model).
The highly anticipated all-new 2012 Subaru Impreza has just been unveiled at the New York Autoshow.
Subaru’s small car has been completely redesigned with a new look inside and out. The latest Impreza now stands on its own as a more aggressive car sporting design ideas that we previously saw in the Impreza concept. In addition, the 2012 Subaru Impreza gains the company’s all-new 2.0-litre four-cylinder horizontally opposed Boxer engine. The new-generation powerplant delivers 110kW and 196Nm of torque (same as before) but promises significant improvements in fuel economy.
2006 Subaru Legacy 2.0R European Version
20th July 2011
The 2006 Legacy models are among the most powerful and best-equipped cars in their segment – and still the only models in the segment offering Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment. The 2006 Legacy 2.5i models gain a more powerful engine, standard 17-inch alloy wheels (replacing 16-inch alloy wheels), larger brakes, an air filtration system and an engine immobilizer security.
In advancing the development concept of the fourth-generation Legacy, which focuses on integrating performance, functionality and beauty, the new Legacy has further perfected three key elements: superb driving performance, environmental considerations, and outstanding comfort. While featuring its core technology, Subaru Symmetrical AWD (All-Wheel-Drive), along with FHI’s original, Horizontally.
